Dr Martin R Toynbee

Dr Toynbee qualified from St Thomas's Hospital Medical School in 1979. He went through the Mid Sussex General practice Training Scheme and became a partner in this practice in 1984. Until 1998 he was based in Hurstpierpoint and then replaced Dr Tombleson in Ditchling when he retired. He was a GP trainer for 14 years stepping down in 2009 and also taught medical students. He has six sons from two previous marriages the eldest of whom will be graduating as a doctor, in spite of his Father's discouragement, in 2011.

Dr Cook graduated from Birmingham University in 1989.He worked in Australia and on the south coast before completing his GP training in Hurstpierpoint.Following this he travelled widely before returning as a partner with the practice in 1998.

He enjoys the day to day aspects of the job and is the practice finance and practice based commisioning lead.

He is married to Clare, also a GP, and they have three children to keep life busy and interesting.

He enjoys food,sport,music,family life and more food.

Dr Simon Purwar (m)

Dr Purwar trained at Oxford University and Guy’s Hospital Medical School, qualifying in 1992. He joined the practice in Hassocks in 1999, and he is the prescribing lead. He enjoys the outdoors and indulges in a number of sports including volleyball, cycling and swimming.

Dr Lewis qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1994, and initially worked in London, before gaining a place on the GP Training Scheme at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath. She joined the practice in 2003, after spells living and working in Cape Town and Christchurch, New Zealand. She has a special interest in women’s health, is married and has a young son. In her spare time she likes to run (slowly) and sleep.

DrWilson.jpgMB BS MRCGP DRCOG BSc London 1997 (Partner) Dr Wilson trained at Guys and St Thomas' Hospitals, qualifying in 1997. He started at Hurstpierpoint in June 2006 and is a GP Trainer, supervising qualified Doctors in their final stages of training towards becoming fully fledged GPs. He is GP Training and IT lead for the Practice. Outside of work he enjoys Mountain Biking, running, playing guitar and harmonica in a local band. He is married and has 3 boys.

Jo qualified from Kings College School of Medicine and Dentistry, London, in 1997. She joined Mid Sussex Healthcare in 2002. She is married to Sean, an Orthopaedic Surgeon, and has 2 children. She has a keen interest in Women's health and Palliative Care. She enjoys all aspects of General practice, particularly providing continuity of care to patients and their families. Since her sabbatical in New Zealand in 2009 Jo has learned tennis and has taken up jogging (no marathons on the horizon just yet). She also loves gardening and when not at work is likely to be found in wellies with a hoe in her hand.

Dr Lynch trained at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, qualifying in 2001. After working in London and Surrey he completed his GP training in Guildford before starting at Hassocks in July 2008.

He is a GP trainer - supervising qualified doctors in their final stages of training towards becoming fully fledged GPs. He is the education lead for the practice.

He enjoys outdoor pursuits and tries to keep fit on an indoor rowing machine.  He is married and has 2 kids to keep him on his toes.

Dr Graham trained at University College London & Middlesex Hospital Medical School, qualifying in 1989. Prior to joining MSHC, where she is educational lead, she was a partner in a Brighton general practice, followed by a pursuit of interests in medical law & ethics, teaching at Brighton Medical School and working in Hospital Dermatology. She is married with 3 children and enjoys running on the South Downs with her border terrier Sparkie.

Clare trained at St Georges Hospital, Tooting and qualified in 1999. She spent a year working in Australia before moving back to the UK where she did her GP training with the Mid Sussex and then Chichester GP VTS programmes. She joined MSHC in July 2010 after returning to the area with her children and husband who is a Consultant in Emergency Medicine. She greatly enjoys her work as a family doctor and the continuity she now has with patients. Clare has twins at infants school who provide lots of fun (and the odd challenge or two), and a neglected new garden which she is enjoying getting stuck into.

Dr Elkins is our current ST3 (final year) GP Registrar, based at Hurstpierpoint from Aug 11 to Aug 12. Outside work she enjoys playing squash, beach volleyball and the flute occasionally.
