Important News Regarding Vaccinations

PLEASE CONTACT US AT LEAST SIX WEEKS BEFORE YOU INTEND TO TRAVEL.

If you are planning or have booked a trip abroad and are seeking travel health advice, the Practice offers a travel clinic service with one of our Travel Health Specialist Nurses.

We would first ask you to complete a travel risk assessment form so we can assess your risk, the recommended vaccines, any necessary malaria tablets (if you are travelling to a malarious region) and the advice most appropriate for your needs. Once you have completed and returned this form to the Practice, at the same time, please make an appointment with one of the travel nurses.

We regret that no traveller will be seen without a completed risk assessment form

Under the services provided within our GP contract, the following vaccines, if clinically indicated, will be provided free of charge. If there is no clinical indication that they are required, should you choose to have them, they will be charged for.

Free of charge if clinically indicated:

Hepatitis AFree
TyphoidFree
Cholera (two drinks)Free
Tetanus (TDP one injection)Free
DiphtheriaFree
PolioFree

The Practice are pleased to be able to offer a more specialist service with a greater choice of vaccines you may require, for example, Rabies which you would otherwise to travel to a private travel clinic for and Yellow Fever. These vaccines are not free on the NHS. At this present time, payment can only be made by BACS or card payment at either Hassocks or Hurstpierpoint sites.

However, if there is not enough time before you travel or you require to be seen at specific times or days of the week, then you may want to investigate private travel clinics in Sussex.

Hepatitis B£180 (for a course of three)
Tick Borne Encephalitis£240 (for a course of three)
Dengue£280 (for a course of two)
Rabies£297 (for a course of three)
Japanese B Encephalitis£238 (for a course of two)
Yellow Fever (not Ditchling)£85

To help us provide the best possible service, please complete a form that you can be obtained here. On returning the form, please remember to book your appointment with the travel nurse.

PLEASE NOTE that as these are non-NHS services there is a risk that appointments may need to be cancelled if we are experiencing a high demand for normal NHS services with our Nursing team.

We would also like you to go to Fit for Travel site https://www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk/home and look up the destination you are travelling to, print off the information, read it and bring with you when you attend your appointment.

Thank you for your cooperation and we look forward to helping you travel safely.
